The Cupcake

I may or may not have devoured the last few delicious bites of a cupcake from a birthday party yesterday afternoon...

If (and I do mean if) I was involved, it should be placed in the category of, "Things You Should Not Leave Where a Pregnant Mommy Can Find Them at 4am."

If I was not involved, then it should be placed in the category of, "Things you Should Not Leave Where a Dog Could Possibly, with Help From a Chair, Reach Them During the Night."

In case you are curious what the most delicious cupcake tastes like... (my fabulous friend J told me where she found the recipe)... I've linked it for you below:

Enjoy!

Down, Border! Down!!!

The other evening I walked into the powder room off my master bath and realized that the wallpaper border that was on the wall when we moved in...was still on the wall. (Where are the magic little house elves that come during the night and take off this stuff?!)   I have *never* liked that border. Nope. Never.

So, I decided to take it down. The bathroom is getting a complete face lift in a couple of months but I wanted the border down now. Which means that I had to get it off without damaging the wallpaper behind it. If you have border you want to get rid of and are curious how I did it, I've posted the steps after the jump (aka: in the read more section at the end of this post). Otherwise, enjoy a quick before and after photo...

So, not what I ultimately want it to look like, but so much better than it did! It actually isn't to bad for a blue powder room...

Stay tuned for my master bath inspiration post coming soon.

Funniest part of the entire thing...when my husband came home and did.not.notice. Yep. I had to show him the before pictures and his comment was, "there was a border in there?"

Ahhh, he makes me laugh!

Enjoying the journey,

Shannon

Stay Tuned...

We are working on a few tweaks for the blog! So excited... stay tuned for the new look!

Also, for those of you who enjoyed readying about my day a few weeks ago...you'll enjoy knowing a new fun additional part of the day I just learned about...

This week I went in for my regular monthly baby check-up and the nurse, who was reviewing everything,  goes, "oh, we haven't received your blood tests back yet."

In my mind, "oh...the blood test...wait...what blood test...I haven't had a blood test?" And then it dawns on me... that appointment was scheduled for Wednesday morning. That one Wednesday morning where everything in life did not go the way it was suppose to go...

Needless to say,  I have now had the blood test done.

Who Knew??

My sister caught me completely off guard when she surprised me with the blog!

She is all sweet and sappy with surprise-blog-sister-love but the truth is that she has secretly been preparing for months. At first glance this may seem charming. The truth is the girl has taken a photography class, thought through several different projects she may want to post about, written many drafts for future use, and in all intents and purposes set herself up for great blog success.

I, on the other hand, have been delightfully surprised with a blog that I have NOT prepared for. I have little to no photography skills (not for lack of desire). I am still drowning in house remodel ADD (I will list the symptoms here shortly). Have I a backlog of drafted posts just waiting for the lovely orange "publish" button? NO!!!

Why am I sharing my blog anxiety with you? Only to explain why I am burdening you with another post about Medusa the Door Knocker. Another???? Really???? Oh, yes. But I am going to throw out some architecture and design knowledge for your learning enjoyment. Alas, you can pretend that you are gettin' all educated while I stall for more time to get organized :-).

If you are anything like me you may wonder why in the world anyone would greet there guests with a Medusa door knocker. Take a look at this face...
Don't you feel the welcome?

It could be worse. Check this one out.

So welcoming! No?

Turns out welcome was not really the goal with Medusa-the-Door-Knocker. Do you recall the story of Medusa? After Perseus defeated the creature, he used her head as a weapon which turned his enemies to stone (thus the hand holding Medusa's snake hair in the image above). Images of Medusa's head were used by the ancient Greeks to decorate their buildings as a way to ward off evil and protect them from enemies. Somehow, somewhere, someone thought it was a good idea to make it into a door knocker! Maybe their neighbor borrowed sugar too many times?

You all may find it amusing that Medusa-the-Door-Knocker did sell at my garage sale in October! WOW! Little did they know I would have paid them to take her away...
